From German Law Enforcement to Private Security

Klaus began his career with the German (Hesse) Police Force, where he spent over 13 years in law enforcement. During that time, he worked in roles that included dignitary protection, responsible for the safety of visiting politicians and international officials.

His training in Germany emphasized legal knowledge, detailed reporting, and structured operational procedures. That environment helped shape his expectations around professionalism and accountability — standards he believes the broader security industry should strive to meet.

After leaving law enforcement, Klaus began exploring new opportunities. That transition eventually led him into private security and entrepreneurship, where he operated security companies and later worked across executive protection assignments internationally.

| “There’s way more in the world than that. So let’s find new things to do and find new ways to live your life.”

That mindset of curiosity and growth ultimately pushed Klaus toward a larger goal: improving the systems the security industry relies on.

The Real Challenges Behind Security Staffing

One of the biggest frustrations Klaus encountered in private security was the difficulty of finding qualified professionals quickly.

During one assignment, he needed to assemble a team of executive protection professionals for a contract on short notice. What followed was a lengthy process of reaching out through different networks, vetting resumes, conducting interviews, and confirming qualifications.

The experience highlighted a major gap in the industry: security staffing is still largely fragmented and inefficient.

Many companies still rely on informal channels such as social media groups, personal networks, or basic job boards. While those methods sometimes work, they rarely provide reliable insight into the real capabilities or professionalism of candidates.

For operators responsible for protecting clients, facilities, and reputations, that uncertainty creates unnecessary risk.

Why Professional Standards Matter in Security

Throughout the conversation, Klaus emphasizes that improving staffing is not just about convenience — it is about raising the professional standards of the entire industry.

When hiring processes are inconsistent, companies often end up recycling the same problems. Officers move from one company to another without meaningful vetting or development, and organizations struggle to build reliable teams.

Klaus believes the industry must shift toward a model where training, professionalism, and accountability are taken more seriously.

Security professionals should understand that the role carries responsibility and requires preparation. At the same time, companies must also invest in better leadership and clearer expectations.

| “You can have a career.”

For Klaus, one of the most important changes the industry needs is recognizing that security can be a long-term profession, not just a temporary job.

Building SecurityX to Improve Security Staffing

Those frustrations ultimately led Klaus to build SecurityX, a platform designed to modernize how security companies and professionals connect.

Rather than functioning as a traditional job board, SecurityX aims to create a system where companies can identify qualified professionals, verify credentials, and staff assignments more efficiently.

The platform also focuses on building a broader ecosystem around the industry — one that encourages networking, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among security professionals.

| “SecurityX is all about building a community.”

For Klaus, improving staffing is only part of the solution. Strengthening the industry requires building connections between professionals, supporting career development, and encouraging higher standards across the board.

The Future of the Security Industry

Looking ahead, Klaus believes the private security industry is entering an important transition.

Demand for security services continues to grow, while police departments across many regions face staffing shortages and increasing workloads. As a result, private security organizations are often expected to take on more responsibility.

However, with that growth comes a need for stronger systems.

Companies will need better tools for staffing, communication, reporting, and training if they want to maintain consistent standards across multiple sites and clients.

The conversation highlights an important takeaway for security leaders: improving operations requires more than adding personnel. It requires building better systems that support the people doing the work.

Klaus’ work with SecurityX reflects that broader vision — one where the security industry becomes more professional, more connected, and better equipped for the challenges ahead.
