A Legacy of Service That Started on the Streets

Before he was Chief Roger Lange, he was a kid from Benton Harbor, Michigan — a small-town dreamer with a drive to protect others. Born in New Orleans, Lange grew up in a crowded home with 12 relatives, learning discipline, teamwork, and resilience long before his law enforcement days.

His journey began not in a police cruiser, but as a Guardian Angel. In the early 1980s, Lange joined Curtis Sliwa’s iconic red-beret-wearing volunteer crime prevention group, patrolling neighborhoods without weapons, armed only with courage and community spirit.

| “We were that visible deterrent to crime,” Lange recalled. “Young people doing good. A positive influence.”

Those nights shaped his philosophy: presence matters, visibility deters, and service starts with showing up — lessons that would define his 27-year career and eventually, his business.

From Law Enforcement to Leadership

After years as a custodian and DJ, Lange entered law enforcement as a reserve officer. From there, his career accelerated — from patrol to detective, narcotics officer, bomb technician, and eventually Chief of Police in Benton Harbor.

His resume reads like a blueprint for every type of public safety service imaginable:

  • Hostage Negotiator

  • FBI Violent Crime Task Force Member

  • Computer Forensics Technician

  • Bomb Squad Leader

Each chapter taught him something new about people, process, and accountability — the very pillars of effective security guard management software.

He even jokes about being “shot in the buttocks” during a narcotics operation gone wrong — an incident he now laughs about, but one that deepened his commitment to safety and training.

Building a Security Company with Purpose

When Lange retired, he didn’t stop serving — he just traded a badge for a business license. He launched Lange Investigation and Consulting Service LLC, starting with one small apartment complex and zero employees.

| “I worked five hours a night, seven days a week, for three months,” he said. “Then I used that money to hire my first employee.”

That grind built more than a company; it built credibility. But as his business grew, the paperwork did too. Handwritten reports, late weekly summaries, and delayed communication made it difficult to maintain visibility for property managers.

He needed something faster. Smarter. More connected.

The Turning Point — Upgrading to Security Incident Software

Lange first experimented with legacy systems like SilverTrac, which introduced digital reporting but lacked real-time efficiency. Then, he discovered Vision InSites — a next-generation security incident reporting software designed by industry veterans who actually ran security companies.

| “The first time I called, Vision InSites called me back within two hours — even on a weekend,” he said. “That never happened before.”

Vision InSites transformed his operation overnight:

  • No training required — the software is intuitive and simple for officers to use

  • Automated incident reporting with AI-enhanced narratives that improve report clarity and accuracy

  • Advanced analytics that give property managers instant insights into activity trends and risk patterns

  • Integrated video and photo features for real-time visual documentation and verification

| “I used to deliver reports weekly,” Lange said. “Now my clients get detailed, professional reports by 7:00 AM the next morning — with photos, videos, and clear narratives. It makes my team look like law enforcement professionals.”

Smarter Security Incident Software, Stronger Service

The secret lies in Vision InSites’ intelligent reporting engine — an AI-powered layer that rewrites and categorizes guard reports in real time, ensuring every incident reads professionally without losing original context.

Clients no longer receive fragmented notes or incomplete observations. Instead, they get concise, insightful reports that read like stories — clean, visual, and data-rich.

The result? Higher trust, more referrals, and faster growth.

| “I asked one property board for a contract increase,” Lange recalled. “They said I didn’t just step it up — I blew it out of the water.”

The ROI of Security Incident Reporting Software

Since adopting Vision InSites, Lange’s company has experienced:

  • 100% improvement in field training efficiency

  • 110% increase in client satisfaction and referrals

  • 90% faster officer onboarding

  • Seamless report accuracy and analytics

This isn’t just a digital upgrade — it’s a business transformation. With features that rival any security patrol management software or guard tour system, Vision InSites helps small and mid-sized security companies operate like national players.

A Future Built on Vision

When asked what’s next, Lange smiled:

| “This is a family business now. My wife, my son — they see what I’m building. Vision InSites gave us the tools to make it real.”

From Guardian Angel to Police Chief to Business Owner, Roger Lange’s journey represents what’s possible when heart meets innovation — and when technology like Vision InSites empowers people who truly understand service.
